While Jesus suffered on the cross, the Bible records 7 statements He made during those hours. We will be looking at these statements, one per week leading up to Easter Sunday, and allowing weight of these words to impact our own hearts.

This Sunday comes from John 19:30 - "It is finished."

On the statement, this statement looks like Jesus is saying "They got me." But this is actually a statement of finality - everything He came to do is done. And the implications, if you truly understand them, will change your life.

This Sunday comes from Matthew 27:46 - "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Despite being in the worst physical pain a human can endure, the real anguish Jesus experienced came from being abandoned by His Father. Why was Jesus forsaken, and what does this statement tell us about what was happening on the cross that no one could see at the time?

First up this Sunday: Father forgive them, for they know not what they do. -Luke 23:34 At the very hour of His suffering, Jesus was praying for those who were executing Him. And this speaks volumes to the heart attitude His followers should embrace.
