It’s not WHAT you know - it’s WHO you know.
That’s an old expression, meaning Sometimes in life you gain success - not by your knowledge - but rather by a personal connection with someone who can help you out. - “He got the job not because he was the most qualified applicant, but because his brother knows the CEO of the company.”
When it comes to matters of the kingdom of God, the expression holds true. It doesn’t matter how much knowledge you have - do you know Jesus?
That’s where John starts his epistle. And that’s where we’ll start Sunday. Are You Sure… That You Know Jesus?
