Q&A: Why Should I Deny Myself?
I know my rights!
Great! Did you know you can lay your rights down?
Denying yourself is counter-intuitive, unAmerican, and… one of the greatest joys you can ever know.

Great! Did you know you can lay your rights down?
Denying yourself is counter-intuitive, unAmerican, and… one of the greatest joys you can ever know.
See you Sunday for Why Should I Deny Myself?
Pastors should be supported by the church. This was a right that Paul was willing to lay down, but it is expected nonetheless.
Why should churches pay the pastor? Join us Sunday as we dive into 1 Corinthians 9.
If you are in Christ, you are free. You are not under the Old Testament Law.
But are you free to do whatever you want? Even if it offends another believer? No.
Because even more important than your freedom must be your love for your brother.
Join us Sunday as we learn how to love each other more maturely.
So much is preached and taught about marriage and parenting. But what about the singles among us?
It’s not a second-class way of living. In fact, Paul says it’s actually better!
If you have the gift of singleness, the Bible teaches that there are some definite advantages.
Join us Sunday for What About Us Single People?
You live in an age of discontentment. You hear others say things like: “My house is too small.” “My job is too stressful and low paying.” “My car is too old.” “My life is too boring.”
So many people are discontent, dissatisfied, and unfulfilled.
What about you? Are you discontent or content? Are you dissatisfied or satisfied? Are you unfulfilled or fulfilled?
Join us this Sunday as we study 1 Corinthians 7:17-24 and discover the call to lead the life that God has assigned to you.
In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul talks about marriage. Obviously, the best case scenario is a husband and a wife who both love Jesus and are walking by the Spirit, joyfully fulfilling God’s plan for them in marriage.
This is not always the case.
What should you do if you are married to an unbeliever? God’s Word gives clear instruction. Join us Sunday as we learn What If I’m Not in a Biblical Marriage?
In 1 Corinthians, the church is called to get Unified and Purified. Then starting in chapter 7, Paul addresses questions that people still ask today. The first topic: Marriage.
If you are married, or plan on getting married, there are some essential truths God wants you to know.
Join us for What About Sex and Marriage?
The Corinthian church lived in a culture that was obsessed with sex, and sexual immorality even plagued the church itself.
Not much has changed, has it?
What’s the big deal? It’s “2 big deals”: sinning against God… and trying to justify your sin. You’ll never be Purified if you don’t grasp the seriousness of sexual sin.
Join us Sunday for Don’t Excuse Sin.
Lawsuits among believers?
That doesn’t seem like the way to handle disagreements in the church. But even if we stay outside the courtroom, disputes within the church must be handled Biblically. So what does the Bible say about that?
Join us on Sunday to find out. Because if the church is going to be Purified, it must Deal with Disputes.
Unrepentant sinners, who call themselves Christians, need to be thrown out of the church.
The Bible is clear on this, yet this is actually very seldom done.
Isn’t that a bit harsh? Shouldn’t that sinner BE in church? Why would God want them out?
Join us for a passage, and message, you might not have ever really considered. If a church is going to be Purified, it must Deal with Sinners.
If you need to take this step of faith, or for more information, email Pastor Jeff.
We gather together every single Sunday and we…sing.
Why do we do that? What is the point?
Maybe you don’t know the answers to those questions so you barely sing or you don’t sing at all. This choice affects you and everyone around you. Being an observer during worship hurts your soul, weakens the church, and offends the Lord.
Join us this Sunday as we conclude the series, God is Seeking Worshipers, and discuss the importance of singing as a congregation.
Whole heart. Does that describe your worship?
You might be confident in answering Who do you worship? or Why should you worship?
But what about HOW do you worship? Do you sing to the Lord from your heart, or do you just kind of stand there and half-heartedly mouth the words?
We must worship in the way God deserves - let’s go All In on Spirit.
God became a man. He was here, and man beheld His glory. What was He like? Jesus is described in 2 words: grace and truth.
The story of Christmas doesn’t end with the birth of Jesus. Though Jesus did die, resurrect, and return to heaven, His grace and truth are still on display - through His people.
What do you want for Christmas? If you truly embrace the implications of the incarnation, you will reply I want to be like God.
What Do You Want for Christmas?
Maybe you couldn’t care less about the gifts under the tree. What you want cannot be bought or wrapped. You want a promotion. You want a raise. You want the healing of a loved one. Here’s another massive desire: you want to belong.
There is someone who can give you that sense of belonging. There is someone who will not reject you if you truly turn to Him. Join us this Sunday as we study John 1:4-13 and learn that there is no one better to belong to than Jesus Christ.
The thing you should want most - Christmas or any other day - is to know the God Who created you. How in the world could we know Him?
He Himself took the initiative. He came to us to reveal Who He is. And He did it by becoming one of us.
Join us as we kick off our Christmas series: What Do You Want for Christmas?
Do As I Say, Not As I Do.
Spoken like someone not worth imitating.
Paul urged the Corinthians to imitate him (1 Corinthians 4:16).
Are you living a life that young Christians should imitate?
Join us Sunday for some introspection with our message Be Worth Imitating.
Tell me a little bit about yourself…
Don’t you have a tiny panic when someone you just met says that to you?
The Bible actually tells you how you should think of yourself, even if it is a concept we don’t usually verbally articulate.
Join us Sunday for “See Yourself as a Servant”.
If you need to take this step of faith, or for more information, email Pastor Jeff.
Get a grip!
You say this when someone is in desperate need of a reality check. This person believes something that is not true, which leads to bad decisions, erratic actions, and massive overreactions. This person needs to let go of the lies that he or she is believing. This person needs to get a grip on reality.
Join us this Sunday as we dive into 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 and receive a much needed reality check from the apostle Paul.
Did you know that Jesus’ followers will face judgment?
Not for sin. (Jesus bore God’s wrath for that.)
But disciples of Jesus will be judged for their works. And we will discover whether our works were fruitful or worthless. And when you know, and really believe, what kinds of works will be rewarded, you will be motivated to Live Now for Then.
See you Sunday!
Babies are cute, right?
But what if a baby never grew or matured? What if a baby stayed in diapers and drank from a bottle for his or her entire life? That would be devastating.
Unfortunately, many Christians seem content to not grow and mature. They seem content to remain as spiritual newborns. The results of this arrested development are devastating for individuals, families, and churches.
Join us this Sunday as we study 1 Corinthians 3:1-9 and receive the call to grow up.
If the church is going to be unified, we must be unified in thought.
But whose thoughts? Mine? Pastor Rich’s? Taylor Swift’s?
Obviously not any of these - we have to all Think Like Jesus. And astoundingly - God has given us the mind of Christ (1Cor 2:16).
Join us Sunday, and let’s all learn to Think Like Jesus.
You’ll never be unified in the church if your focus is on your favorite preacher or seeking to exalt yourself. There is exactly one focal point that keeps the church united, and it is the very thing Jesus prayed to unite His church.
We all have to Get Under the Word. See you Sunday!
In 2025, self-promotion is everywhere. Just turn on the TV or open up social media. You will be bombarded with boasting, bragging, and me-centered content.
Self-promotion isn’t just a big problem in the world. It is a big problem within the church. It is a big problem within you.
Join us this Sunday as we study 1 Corinthians 1:18-31. You will be called to replace self-promotion with Christ-promotion. You will be challenged to boast in the Lord and not yourself.
Imagine: a group of people identify with a certain leader, and this group has major issue with other people who identify with a different leader.
Sounds like American politics, right?
Or maybe it sounds like the church. That was a problem in Corinth. And it will be a problem in your church unless you are all committed to Nix the Cliques.
United we stand.
The church is the body of Christ, therefore unity in this community is an absolute must.
If there is to be unity, everyone must do their part to make it happen. And 1 Corinthians tells us how to be Unified.
It can only happen to people transformed by the Gospel of Jesus. So unity starts here: Know Your Salvation.
Jesus’ closing remarks in the greatest sermon ever preached… and what does He say?
Beware of Where You Build.
Right now, you are building your life on something. But will it stand when the storms come?
Join us as we conclude the Sermon on the Mount.
Billions of people across this planet profess Christ and believe they are heading to heaven.
But…what if many of them are not? What if many of them are self-deceived about who they truly are and who they truly belong to?
Do not miss this Sunday as the Lord Jesus shares the most shocking message imaginable in Matthew 7:21-23.
Not everyone who says they are teaching the Bible are actually teaching the Bible.
Not everything labeled “Christian” is actually Christian.
Once again, we have a warning from God’s Word, and a call to discernment: Beware of Who You Hear.
Join us Sunday!
Do you know how many religions there are in the world?
According to Jesus, there are exactly two. One way is hard and leads to life, but the much more popular way leads to death.
“That sounds awfully narrow minded!”
It is. Regardless - this is what Jesus said.
Join us Sunday!
